Feedback results

From out feedback from survey monkey , most of the results came back positive , alot of people (16-25) said that our local newspaper would appeal to them especially as we have combined the conventions of a tabloid newspaper, magazine and local newspaper. From our first results the audience said they didn't like our masthead font as it looked too military , we then changed it and the feedback was positive towards the masthead. People generally liked the way we had a serious issue article and then fun things so it was a bit of a mixture but generally a fun young local newspaper but for the youth to be able to get involved in local problems.     The feedback did help us as it made us positive that our final finished local newspaper was attractive towards young people and would be something that they would definatly pick up and read.

Our phone call to Ham and High Newspaper Offices

----> MediaPHOEBEISSY

click on this link to hear our Phone call :)

This is a phone call that we made to Ham and High offices to talk to an editor and representitive about they're target audience. We recorded the conversation by using two blackberry smartphone, one i was talking into on load speaker and the other phone was recording. We spoke to someone who was willing to answer the questions we wanted to ask.

Our Poster

This is our final poster to link with our newspaper. I think it turned out very well because a lot of young people we have spoke to have given us good feedback about it and they have been able to make the connection between our newspaper with the poster, which is what we were aiming for.

This is the oringinal picture we took which haden't been edited yet.

This is were we started using photoshop, we edited the ligh and contrast and then took out the writing from her cap so we could put Eholla in.

FINAL FRONT PAGE AND SECOND PAGE

These are my two final front cover and second cover pages, I am happy with the final product. I've continued my first page article onto the second page and used conventions from a tabloid newspaper, like crossheads, by line, sub heading, contents, vox pop etc but also conventions from a local newspaper and magazine. I kept making alot of small changes but in the end I am happy with the results.

Take our Survey

Click on link below to take our survey and give us you feedback ! :)

This is a survey we made with questions about our local newspaper, we made it on survey monkey, you can accses this through our blog and our facebook or print the page up and pass them around. The main aim for this survey was to get feedback about the style, genre, representation, article etc. We wanted to see mainly would this appeal to our target audience 16-25 year olds. This would then tell us if we needed to make any changes to fit the standards we wanted them too.

Our Radio advert

Yesterday Pheobe and I went to the music tech room in our school and recorded our radio add. For this we got in some of our college friends to join on the recording which made it sound alot better. We gave everybody a script and recoded each person 5 times until it was perfect and then pheobe and I did our part of the radio add too. We used logic pro which sounds more professional as we can adjust peoples voice and sounds to make it sound clearer. We used sound effect and hip hop beats for the sound track to finalize or radio add .

Our radio advert script

This is our radio script, we used celtx a MAC application which allows you to write scripts, we used the drama setting to produce it .

Our Final Font Choice

This is our final choice of fonts, we chose to test the fonts Media black out and Urban jungle, we decided we prefer the first font which is urban jungle, because it'll attract the eye of the young audience we want to target , it sends out a kind of graffitti and city vibe. I think it suits our genre for a young audience newspaper .

A rough of my main article

Youth unemployment has had a drastic effect in Enfield alone, with 30% of Enfield’s 16-24 year olds being out of work. In the UK youth unemployment has risen above 1 million- with more than a fifth of 16 to 24 year olds being unemployed in the UK.

Local young people in Enfield were approached and asked their opinions, “I’ve never had a job in Enfield,” Mark, 18, Enfield High Street, “I’ve only volunteered at my local charity shop for four months, I’ve been trying to get a paid job since I was 16.” He told us what he thinks should change, “The government have ignored this issue and now our generation is losing out. In Enfield there should be more help for the youth to find work otherwise our education is useless.”

Boris Johnson mayor of London speaks about the youth unemployment of Enfield, “The youth unemployment rate (16-24 year olds) in Enfield is 7.5 per cent. I am doing my utmost to ensure young people in London have the skills and opportunities to get back to work by increasing the number of apprenticeships, with a target of 20,000 across London this year, and a commitment to 1,000 apprenticeships per year in the GLA Group; and delivering a wide range of projects focussed on young people . under the Time for Action programme and through the European Social Fund”.

Unemployment fell by 8,000 in the three months to July to 2.47 million, while the number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance in August increased by 2,300 to 1.47 million, the first rise since January.

We want to know what the youth of Enfield think about this whole situation and what differences and help would they like to get from the government. Please email us in your thoughts and suggestions

My chosen headline

This is my chosen headline and the font i have picked to go with it.

I think this is the best headline for my article as it is a pun but is not undermining the unemployed. I think the font i have chosen is quite nuteral but also tabloidish.

Headline Ideas

I've been working on Headlines for my main article and here are a few ideas.

"Jobless Youth Feel the Cuts."
"Unemployed Enfield Youth at Record High."
"Out of Work Youth Suffer the Cuts."
"Young People Fear a Jobless Future."
"Work Axed for Enfield Youth."
